This year’s Symposium, held April 30 – May 2 in Princeton, NJ, marked the first time that advanced directors
(14) were brought together with school heads (9) to discuss issues of mutual interest and concern – in this
case, enrollment management (EM). The new Symposium format was well-received by participants, who
acknowledged the great value in hearing each others’ perspectives.
The discussion focused on the challenges associated with managing a school’s enrollment and explored the
responsibility for the process. Day 1 facilitator Claude Anderson, newly-appointed Director of Admission
at Northfield Mount Hermon School (MA), took participants through the components of an optimized
enrollment program. Day 2 facilitator Bob Fricker, Associate Consultant, Educational Directions Inc.,
helped participants explore the director-head relationship in schools.
A special Symposium report was produced and mailed to directors and heads at the end of May. The
report summarized the discussions and cited a number of places to go for more information on the
topic of Enrollment Management. Can’t find your copy? Download the full report by going to www.ssatmembers.org and clicking on News and Resources.
